I am using Huwaei E160 under ubuntu 10.04

I use the modem to send sms using smslib. But in some conditions I have to reset the modem and I use usb_modeswitch for the purpose.
The problem is that after restarting the modem using the command

sudo usb_modeswitch -R -v 12d1 -p 1003 -H

the modem can't send USSB command anymore ... I always get a timeout exception when waiting the ussd result.
The problem is gone when I pull out and then pull in the modem again.

Is there any solution for this problem?

Unfortunately, the effect of the USB Reset command is inconsistent for various devices. Some stay in modem mode, others do reset to storage mode or become completely inaccessible.

In your case, I would not use the -H parameter. It's useless and possibly disturbing for the device in modem mode. Furthermore, the reset is done in the end, after all other measures, so even if the -H had any positive effect it would be most likely cancelled right afterwards.
