When I install drives, I have found the device at /dev/ path, ttyUSB0, ttyUSB1, ttyUSB2.

Do I need to use USB_ModeSwitch to change them to modem, if I do that, whether the system will show Modem device? How can i query them!

Thanks for your help!

Hi there,

if /dev/ttyUSB* devices indeed appear after you have modem connected, then seems you do not need to use usb_modeswitch.

In order to identify which device to use as a modem, as root (you need to do "sudo bash" to become root, if using a sudo based distribution like Ubuntu) do those:
Code:
/usr/sbin/chat -e '' ATZ OK ATI OK >> /dev/ttyUSB0 < /dev/ttyUSB0
/usr/sbin/chat -e '' ATZ OK ATI OK >> /dev/ttyUSB1 < /dev/ttyUSB1
/usr/sbin/chat -e '' ATZ OK ATI OK >> /dev/ttyUSB2 < /dev/ttyUSB2

If one of those commands worked, then your modem works properly and resides on the port that worked.

If none of those worked, post the output of those commands:
Code:
lsusb
lsmod | grep usb
uname -a
dmesg

Also, make sure you mention what is your distribution.
