Huawei E176...

Post by mark123 » 01 Apr 2012, 14:51

Hi,

will the Huawei E176 modem be supported by modeswitch in near future?

Will also the sd-card feature be supported (for extroot) - then I wouldn't need a cardreader any longer?

greets, Mark

Why in the near future? The E176 is quite old. It should already work. The ID is 12d1:1003

The option driver adds GSM modem-ports to ttyUSB and ttyUSB1

Also the "attached SCSI removable disk" and "attached scsi CD-ROM sr0" are recognized at my everyday system with Kernel 2.6.37.6.

The stick works only in ppp-mode.

Thomas

Thanks, very much.

I couldn't find the E176 in the working-list. http://www.draisberghof.de/usb_modeswit ... erence.txt

Do you think it also runs on 2.6.31 (OpenWrt)?

In which mode except ppp can newer sticks work?

May be the reason is, the modem does not need to change the ID. At least I see only one:

But I am not sure what usb_modeswitch does:

It should work.

Newer modems can also work as "networkcard" wwan0 with qmi and dhcp instead of AT-commands and ppp.

What's about the Huawei 353?

It's cheaper and faster and also have external antenna and sd-clot.

Should it run on Kernel 2.6.31 (OpenWrt)?

I don't know. I have only experience with Huawei E220, E176, E398 and ZTE K3565Z.
