Hello,
i have tried to switch the Huawei K3520 (E620) UMTS Stick, also known as Vodafone Mobile Connect Stick, while it aborts with an (for me) unspecified error. Please help, because I need it urgently. Below you will find the error message.
Thanks in advance

Your device seems to be not fully discovered by your system.
Please post the result from "lsusb -v -d 12d1:1001" without trying to switch. And while you're at it, do a "uname -r" to get the kernel version.

I just have done a fresh install of Ubuntu 9.10, but it's the same error.
But on an other system with the same os, it works. Could it lay on the hardware or is it the software?
Anyway, I have executed these two commands, here the messages:

This does not work, it is binded to the option driver, but the problem has not changed.
But I know why manually running of usb_modeswitch didn't work. I have forgotten to run this as root.
Output of usb_modeswitch -v 0x12d1 -p 0x1001 -H 1 as root with option driver:
Code: Select all
* usb_modeswitch: tool for controlling "flip flop" mode USB devices
* Version 1.0.2 (C) Josua Dietze 2009
* Works with libusb 0.1.12 and probably other versions

If USB_ModeSwitch says: "not a storage device", then running it is unnecessary. The device was switched before, most likely by the kernel.
If the "option" driver is bound and you have "ttyUSB" devices in "/dev", the modem is ready to use.

Yes, it should. But even if I not switch, it does not work. I can't use it.

What specifically is not working ?
Do you have /dev/ttyUSB0 - 2 ?
Did you try to communicate with these (minicom) ?

On the other system, where it works I can connect via NetworkManager or Vodafone Mobile Connect to the internet. Here I can't.
I don't have anything wich begins with ttyUSB in /dev.
I don't understand why it works on the other system but not on this, even after a fresh install.
