ppp.log looks successful, but no info about first packet
Code:
End of DHCP negotiation
Android VPN creation complete
VPN network device is up
Network notification accepted after 1000 ms

Connection is ready

So I enabled free load in SuperSu app:
Code:
ip route del default
ip route del default table tun0
ip route add default dev tun0 scope link table tun0
ip route add default dev tun0 scope link
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/vendor/lib*:/system/lib*
ip addr add 100.82.180.158 dev tun0 label tun0:0
cd /data/local
export CLASSPATH=/data/local/lc.jar
su -cn r:u:system_app:s0 -c "app_process ./ com.android.commands.lc.Lc connected 24 TypeError: sit0 100.82.180.159 100.82.180.129 93.153.117.33 93.153.117.1 </dev/null" &
#RTNETLINK answers: No such process
#RTNETLINK answers: No such process
cip route add default dev tun0 scope link
ip route add default dev tun0 scope link table tun0
exit
RTNETLINK answers: File exists
RTNETLINK answers: File exists

ping doesn't work even with -I parameter (for interface), but resolving hostnames works

Ah, I forgot that you have an ECM-type connection to the modem ...

That gives me some ideas.

Let's look at your modem more closely. Is it still the Huawei E3372?
How do you initiate the actual connection? There is usually a web interface for this in ECM mode, which has a button to manually build the connection. This may be much too late for the validation to succeed.

Is the "Alternative Huawei mode" set? I think this might be wrong in your case. The standard mode may bring the modem in a state that is much better to control and use (NCM). Try both settings and collect the "USB Log" for each.

Modem is Huawei E3372h - 153 issued by T-Mobile with T-Mobile software for Windows
I have selected/checked web browser opening but it has never been opened.
Without alternative modes, doesn't work - ends at setting up modem… with modem not responding:

O.K. - my assumption of ECM was wrong. The alternative Huawei mode is the correct one for your modem.

The SuperSU log is completely normal. The errors are expected; some commands are issued 'just in case' and their failure is irrelevant.

BTW, I compared your modem layout to my E3372s-153. My USB ID after the mode switch is slightly different (12d1:155f) but the NCM port looks identical.

I'm really at a loss what else to try here. The connection just seems not to be there sometimes ...

Looking back to mageus post, who has the same tablet as me, this seems to be not modem related issue. Now I'm trying to find out the way I managed to get it working with BusyBox…

Not all commands might be irrelevant, what are these about? Does the SU log look the same on your tablet?

Your SU log is identical to mine. Some commands are issued twice in case of Android possibly changing the network setup (default route) in between. If it doesn't, the second attempt just fails and does nothing.

Note that it does run nicely on all my devices and many others.

I have released a new beta version for you to try (1.3.2 TEST 2). The only new feature is the "online check" which I have mentioned before, but so far it was only implemented for a PPP connection, not for an Ethernet-like connection like the E3372 provides.

So now you should see if the Internet connection of the modem is really up and working (at the end of the PPP log).

OK, I thought that these commands may be something above the basic, which is issued just for stability. However this might help you: this tablet has poorly adjusted core - there are gms and other non-tablet parts, I don't know why

I can't get BusyBoxes to having impact on PPPwidget anymore… interesting and weird

As I thought we are online, there is something messed up with network -> I may do better asking Nvidia support
Code:
Send initial IP packet ...
First IP packet received - we are online

End of DHCP negotiation
Android VPN creation complete
VPN network device is up
Network notification accepted after 800 ms

Connection is ready

Actually i have been doing some research before my purchase and it seems that the K1 its a bullet in the dark when it comes to Wifi, 80% owners says it works great, the other 20% says its Spotty. My recommendation its to return it and get a New one ,some people have confirmed that after replacing the tablet with a new one the WiFi problem was Fixed. (Also its mostly a rumor not confirmed but most people who had trouble with the K1 are the ones who rooted it.)

Does this look correct?
Code:

    link/none

    inet 100.86.172.135/32 scope global tun0:0
       valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
shieldtablet:/ # ip route
default dev tun0  scope link
100.86.172.128/28 dev tun0  proto kernel  scope link  src 100.86.172.136
shieldtablet:/ # cat /sdcard/Android/data/de.draisberghof.pppwidget3/files/log/ppp.log | grep IP:

I will check. The netmask (.../28 in your case) is provided by the DHCP negotiation.

In my test here, the netmask is /30. Still, I have not encountered any problems though. Don't think that's a problem.

Finally it seemd NVidia support has forwarded me to the right place: https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/1023475/shield-development/network-validation-failed/
So we will see what will they find, edit: looking at number of responses that doesn't look good

Back to the permanent notification: usually antiviruses use that to prevent being killed by system, an Avast antivirus is one of them (I'm using it), usually the perma. notif. are not removable by swapping them out (needs to be confirmed), it could be made next to the widget

Hello, as I thought the forum is really slow.

I have a question, if you can release a beta version with only modeswitch option. I want to try something.

I can do that once I'm home. Right now I'm travelling (somewhere in Africa), with no tech but my tablet ...
Again I have to request your patience - which you had plenty of so far!

Hopefully you had good weather ;)
