Also when I updated to 1.2.5 it said no driver found, luckily I had a backup of 1.2.4

P.s I think it might be a problem with the swan_USB.ko etc files I have, but I can't find any others....excuse my ignorance if any

Version 1.2.5 is quite correct when it says that there were no drivers found. No working ones, at least.

I get this error:
insmod: init_module '/sdcard/pppwidget/lib/usb_wwan.ko' failed (Exec format error)

when I use the compiler from the JNI devkit (official Google) for Samsung kernel modules. Usually, these modules are only working when I use the compiler that Samsung recommends (from CodeSourcery).

So you basically need different modules. Sorry, can't say which compiler to use. A different one, for sure.

OK I don't know if this is obvious but I'm using a Motorola Xoom, not a Samsung, why are you referring to Samsung? Is it the same driver module?

No, that was just an example about the same module from one compiler working, but not from annother.

OK well I think the device is recognising the modem but I don't think PPP widget knows which port to pick it up because PPP widget needs a port selection however in my dev folder there is no tttyusb files.... so which port is this 3g dongle connecting to? I done a dmesg in terminal and I saw the huawei e173:

[ 2877.417808] hub 2-0:1.0: 1 port detected
<6>[ 2881.384188] usb 2-1: new high speed USB device number 2 using tegra-ehci
<6>[ 2881.445945] usb 2-1: New USB device found, idVendor=12d1, idProduct=1001
<6>[ 2881.446293] usb 2-1: New USB device strings: Mfr=3, Product=2, SerialNumber=0
<6>[ 2881.446870] usb 2-1: Product: HUAWEI Mobile
<6>[ 2881.447183] usb 2-1: Manufacturer: HUAWEI Technology

Does that mean anything?

That means that the stick was switched to modem mode all right - but you still have no working drivers.

The ttyUSB ports will only appear if the modules are loaded.

Ok I've tried a couple of drivers... but nothing seems to be working. ...I am however getting doesn't readings from the widget. .. I.e now it says disconnected and gives me the option to connect but still just says disconnected after I press it. I don't think that the drivers are doing anything because when I look at the log it says insmod failed or whatever.

why would I be getting a failed log but different outcomes on the front end?

(also is it the option.ko and usb_wwan.ko im looking for?)

Always check if you have ttyUSB ports in the dev folder after the "prepare device" phase. That's the main point. Make sure you are not missing the moment when the current drivers are working.

Sorry, that's all the advice I can give there ...

Season's greetings to all from Athens Greece.

Xoom2 media Wi-Fi, android 4.0.4 ics
Huawei e173

I disabled CD,so that it won't auto run the Windows drivers and disabled pin.
Then I have rooted using DroidRazrRoot404
Ppp runs. First times it did same exact thing as d_rahl : I got a connect prompt but it just wouldn't.
In my case this was without me loading the stick with drivers or kernel.
After few attempts it showed"no drivers found"...

Seems so close, it's it?

This was in the PPP record :
"Using port for connection"

Why is there no port ID in the message
? should I input it manually? Where can I find the port?

There was nothing in the USB record.

Let's look at what PPP Widget is seeing when you plug the modem in:

In the terminal emulator (as "root"), run "logcat PPPWidget:V *:S". There should be some output if you insert the modem.

I typed that in and got dev/gsmmodem does not exist. ..... so obviously the driver is not usb_wwan.ko or option. ko UNLESS I just rename them to gsmmodem and try again?

No, there should be quite a bit more output once you connect the modem. Let it run in the terminal and check back after the plug-in and the device preparation.

Please post the full text of the output here (you can repeat everything and redirect the logcat output to a file).
