No driver - Freelander PD80 RK3066 tablet using Huawei E173

Post by Ryan87B » 06 Apr 2013, 18:17

Hello... I have a Freelander PD80 Rockchip 3066 tablet and I've tried several methods to work with Huawei E173 dongle.
I've downloaded drivers for Rockchip and put them in /sdcard/pppwidget/lib but still no drivers found.
My Android version is 4.0.4 and Kernel version is 3.0.8+ SMP PREEMPT Mon Aug 16 10:18:34 CST 2012
Build number: rk30_ics_v2.23.00 IMM76D.eng.root.20120806.101836
Is there anyway to work with this type of 3G Dongle?

Thank you in advance!!!

Can you post the USB log after plugging the stick?

"Show PPP Log" and "Show USB Log" buttons are deactivated and Enable logging is checked.
I've restarted the tablet but no changes and the log folder is empty. Is there other way to see the log?
Thank you for your answer!

After enabling the logging, the modem should be unplugged and re-plugged. After the preparing process, the USB log button should be active (because there is a log file).

I've tried that, but still the button remain inactive. All I got is that error from Android: "Damaged Storage".
There is an option at ppp widget: "Automatic device detection" and when is checked it says: "Checking access..." and then "No modem found". When I uncheck the automatic device detection and I touch the icon I can choose 12d1:1c08 (HUAWEI). After I choose Huawei I got this error "No driver found". But after all that the button still remain inactive to view log.
I really don't know what to do next and I really need your help! Thank you very much!

L.E.: It's working now after renaming the file "usb_modeswitch" and deactivating automatic device detection.
Very simple!

The 12d1:1c08 id means that the stick is already in modem mode so it must have been switched by a mode switching software included by the builder of the Android kernel.
usb_modeswitch in the pppwidget package can not automatically detect a stick that is already switched, it looks for the "not switched" usb id.
