Post by zorvalth » 18 Jul 2014, 15:26

I just got my new tablet Xiaomi MIPAD and when I place the widget it looks like this https://www.dropbox.com/s/ojqhoa8svc5x2 ... -17-37.png

Non of the buttons are active and its not asking me for root permissions...

Does it change if you remove it (from ALL workspaces) and place it again?

If not, then I need to see a log output. Are you familiar with the Catlog app?

Sorry , I send PM instead of topic reply, here is it again:

No matter how many times I place it on the desktop looks the same. I tought it may be the plauncher because its kind of weird. Half of the screens are only for widgets, the other half is for apps icons. I tried a couple other launchers but was the same result.

I'm not familiar with the Catlog app, but if you give me simple hints I will do it. I'm not developer but never got problems with following steps, rooting my devices and doing any kind of tweaks. Just tell me how to get the exact log you need.

p.s. btw, the screen ration is 4:3 , the res is 2048x1536 and the CPU is Tegra K1, dont know if this matter...

I just installed Catlog and did that:

1. Played the log
2. PLaced the widget
3. stopped the log
4. export the txt

here it is : https://www.dropbox.com/s/qzynyer9537cx ... -41-41.txt

I see there is some ppp info inside, hope it helps...

Sorry for the many psots..

I see this:

07-19 13:40:50.114 W/BroadcastQueue(906): Unable to launch app de.draisberghof.pppwidget/10072 for broadcast Intent { act=android.appwidget.action.APPWIDGET_DISABLED flg=0x10 cmp=de.draisberghof.pppwidget/.PPPWidgetProvider }: process is not permitted to autostart

Which looks like its no added in root permissions...? btw when i Place it on the desktop is not asking me for su permissions. But when I install the widget on non rooted phone and place it on the desktop it looks ok just says "no root"...

I have not seen this before.

I don't think there is any relation to the root check which comes later in the 'flow'. There are several other initialisation steps taken when you place the widget.

The "android.appwidget.action.APPWIDGET_***" events are officially used by the Android API to control a widget. I am at a loss why these should be blocked ...

Do you have any security software installed?

No, its MIUI if you are familiar with it, its heavily modified Android. But there is no security software installed and i couldn't find any security system app too...

Well, then I have no idea how to fix this ...

Maybe you can ask around if there is something like a community for MIUI?

I asked, but the Pad was released 14 days ago and i have to hope some developer with 3g need to dig in it... I doubt it will be soon.

Do you think if i give you the .zip with the ROM you could figure something or not?

I see in the post that you left at the MIUI board that you write:
"autostart menu in the settings is force closing"

What kind of autostart menu are you referring to? What does it do?

PPP Widget cannot be started up like an app. It is widget-only.

MIUI for tablets its realatively new. MIUI for phones there is security center where you can control autostart permissions for all apps and root permissions too. In MIUI for tablets there is no security center there is just a menu Auto start apps in settings but whenever you click on it its force closing the settings which is not only on my tablet I saw another person to reffer to this problem too.

Now I'm trying to follow the guide from XDA but I cant switch Huawei E3131 to modem mode only. Its giving me an error on AT^U2DIAG=0

PPP Widget does essentially the same steps that the XDA guide recommends. In addition, it can do the "mode switch" that you need to use the stick as a modem. There is usually no need to make that mode switch permanent, it happens every time you plug the stick.

Is there any way to remove PPP Widget from the Autostart menu?

If not, then this is a serious bug in the operating system.

The whole menu is getting force close. But why should I remove it? The log says:

Unable to launch app de.draisberghof.pppwidget/10072 for broadcast Intent { act=android.appwidget.action.APPWIDGET_DISABLED flg=0x10 cmp=de.draisberghof.pppwidget/.PPPWidgetProvider }: process is not permitted to autostart

Which makes me think I need to add it?
