I get 2 prompts to use PPP Widget 2 when I connect the modem. But after that I get "no configuration found for device preparation". usb.log:
New device on /dev/bus/usb/001/013
Class of interface 0 is 0x08
Looking at USB device 19d2:0015 with class 8
Trying to switch mode of USB device 19d2:0015 ...
Device info:
VID= 19d2
PID= 0015
Manufact.= Qualcomm, Incorporated
Product= ZTE CDMA Technologies MSM.....
Found no configuration for this device, abort
Mode-switching was interrupted, success not guaranteed

19d2:0015 is already switched device, as the not switched is 19d2:2000. It seems it is switched by the ROM, because I found usb_modeswitch in /system/bin.
Edit: I renamed binary to /system/bin/usb_modeswitch2, it did not help, the same result.
Edit2: It seems this modem requires special treatment, as "After the mode switching, it should have class 255, not 8". Please see the end of my old thread - viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1201&start=15

Is it possible to use workaround like in PPP Widget 1 for this modem?

Just tried with recently released 1.1.12, the same problem. Is PPP Widget 2 open source? I could try to make the needed modifications myself.

Both PPP Widgets are not open-sourced, mainly due to security reasons.

My time is very limited, but I'll try to add a workaround for this modem. Some time during the week.

Still does not work with 1.2.0.

I failed to remember this thread ...

You might want to try version 1.2.2 where I have included special handling for the MF628 - which I could not test though ...

I just uploaded that version but it takes a while for Google to make it public.

Thank you very much! Version 1.2.2 detects the modem and starts connecting, but hangs on Building network ...
usb.log:
New device on /dev/bus/usb/001/005
Class of interface 0 is 0x08
Looking at USB device 19d2:0015 with class 8
Found ZTE MF628 (special case). Assume vendor-specific interface
Load VendorSpec driver

ppp log - http://paste.fedoraproject.org/212868/47359514

BTW, I copied the logs from the program (by using clipboard), as /sdcard/pppwidget2/log/usb.log is the old file from February.

Thanks, I just found a little quirk which explains the hang you are seeing. It's fixed already.

There will be (at least) one more release this week. Just watch out for updates.

BTW, you can delete the "pppwidget2" folder in "sdcard". Newer Androids do not allow apps to simply create folders there, so the location has changed to "/sdcard/Android/data/de.draisberghof.pppwidget2/files".

It's not my fault ... 8)

NP, just that the old location is written in Configure->Enable logging.

If you want, try the latest version. It should fix the hang when building the connection.

I have the same problem with PPP Widget 3 this time, like in the 1st post:
I get 2 prompts to use PPP Widget 3 when I connect the modem. But after that I get "no configuration found for device preparation".
Could a workaround for my modem be added to PPP Widget 3 too?

I had fundamentally rewritten that part of the code for PPP Widget 3, and the workaround for that modem model somehow did not make it into the new version ...

I've just uploaded an update which should take care of this issue (v1.1.5). If problems persist, please post the "USB Log" from PPP Widget 3.
