Hey folks,

In my Car PC I'm using car launcher that doesn't support widgets. Is there a way I can interact with PPP W3 (or some underlying components, bind to a service?) to connect to the Internet? I can use standard home screen for initial setup. I have full root access.

Ideally I want to turn on/off modem from my service.

- Pavel.

There is a feature for connecting/disconnecting by sending an "intent".

See the FAQs for details, paragraph "Special Features":

At the moment, I'm unsure if I have properly updated the "intent string" when evolving from PPPWidget 2, so if the indicated string does not work, try to replace "...pppwidget3..." with "...pppwidget2...".

Using the intent no interaction is needed with the widget indeed. However I still need to confirm the VPN warning dialog after each boot. Is there any way to get rid off that dialog as well? Thank you.

That's a matter of the Android system. There is no way around it if VPN is used, and PPP Widget 3 can't work without using the VPN facility.

On Android 5 and above, the VPN confirmation is persistent (per app) but not on Android 4.

Thank you!

I have found the xposed framework meanwhile. It was also mentioned here in the forum somewhere:
