It's not that easy. It takes time and probably several test versions of PPP Widget.
It would likely be easier if I had the device on my desk to test with. Still, I'm doing this as a hobby, with limited time resources.

Most other devices don't have the problem, and it's unlikely I can fix all of the remaining ones.

I had annother look at the logcat output you posted. There are several strange things going on.

First, there are a lot of messages regarding "Wifi Lock". Are you trying to enable Wifi after connecting?
Anyway, please try once more while having the flight mode on (which disables all Wifi background scans).

Second, there are messages missing that are issued by PPP Widget. There must be a message saying
"PPPWidget3 VPN Ether (or PPP): Service starting"
Also missing is the message
"Will try to make OS aware of connect ..."
I suspect the Android system has been tampered with by the manufacturer of the device.

Third, there seems to be a parallel attempt to access the modem, starting at this line:
"NetworkAgentInfo [MOBILE (HSDPA) - 101]"

This is likely the built-in modem support (which only works for officially supported modem models, and may disrupt the access attempts of PPP Widget).
