Hello All!

I recently picked up a LG VL600, which turns out isn't compatible with PPP Widget 2 or 3. I have a Android radio sporting Android 5.1 that I'd like to run a USB modem for 4g internet.

My carrier is Verizon, are there any affordable USB modems that work well with PPP Widget?

Additionally, I'm hoping for the autoconnect feature to work, as my radio hard boots each morning and afternoon.

Many thanks!!

Did you try setting the modem port manually for the VL 600?

It seems to provide an ACM port together with its proprietary Ethernet port. There is a fragment of information about it right here on this site.

To be on the safe side, could you post PPP Widget's (3) "USB Log" here?

Morning Josh,

Here is the USB log:

Trying to continue, use made-up MAC

Additionally, I'm not able to edit the sim profile. The widget seems to locate it, but when I hit connect, it stops at "building network". Editing the sim profile pops up error that no modem is connected.

Lastly, what port you I change the widget to use?

As I said, go to the configuration and set the modem port manually. The option is somewhere under "Troubleshooting". Try both interface 0 or 1.

Furthermore, there is an internal modem in your phone; add its ID to the ignore list. This is also in the configuration. Just enter "0bda:b720" there.

Hmm, then this modem does not have any standard port and needs a special driver ...

I can fix this only if I have such a modem in my hands to test with.

No worries, I only spent $10 on it.

Which verizon lte modem do you recommend that is plug and play?

All Huawei derivates should work fine; I don't know details about specific Verizon models though.

Edit: after some googling for "verizon 4g modem linux", I suspect that all available models do have some quirks ...
The UML295 should work though.

U620L should work too.

Any possible trouble with the UML295 should be fixable. At least it provides a port that's known to PPP Widget 3.
The UML295 was discussed here earlier, by the way.

It connects, creates the VPN, but I can't access the internet or connect to the modem's web interface.

On my Win7 laptop, I'm able to access both, so it is indeed working.

This is the ECM mode as discussed in the UML295 thread I linked before.

The modem likely expects some additional AT commands through the serial ports for connecting properly. It would be much better to have it in the QMI mode as described. I'll create an update tomorrow night.

Unfortunately I need one more evening to test the update. Expect the release on Friday night.

What, you mean the update made just for me, for the free support, of a product I didn't pay for is going to be delayed?

What an outrage.

Take your time, I currently am just hotspotting the radio from my cell phone. Thank you for everything Josh! Hope your evening is well!
