You just grab a chair then sit and wait patiently, I'm sure Josh will tell you when he has something ready.
It is Eastern holiday now and most people spend their free time together with their families.

LOM - :)

To tell the truth, I have one full day without obligations and visits, and I enjoy being able to code with no disturbances ... It will be different from tomorrow onwards, so I'm glad I could finish my work on the new PPP Widget release.

Get it from Google Play once it's available (version 1.1.9).

Note that there wasn't really a bug related to the E397 connection attempts. The QMI response points to the status "No service" which is common while the modem (or rather the SIM card) is not fully registered to the network yet.

So the only thing I did was to increase the connection retry limit and the delay between retries. Also, the status "Modem not replying" after reaching the retry limit was bogus. It's now "Connection has failed" which subsequently allows further connection attempts.

I'm sorry for not responding earlier. (was a busy weekend for me ;) )

SO yes I updated pppwidget and it was a bit finicky and had to unplug and replug modem 2 or 3 times.

It connected and I had data, but for some reason the bars stayed green in pppwidget.

After a quick speedtest it did seem to be stuck on 3G. I used speedtest.net app and got 160 ping and about 1mbps down and up, where a 3g modem would usually get about 80 ping 2mbps down and 1mbps up.

The modem did not seem to be in LTE, which was a bit confusing since before it connected it showed blue bars.

I grabbed the log from pppwidget, I don't know if it says why it was stuck on 3G

PPP Widget does not touch any speed settings - ever ...

Usually, modems are set up by default so that they choose the highest available mode and speed. Either the LTE cell was clogged/not working, or the modem reception quality was just not sufficient.

I suppose you have the modem on a USB extender, as opposed to plugged in at the back of the radio, hidden in the depths of the car dashboard, right? Or are you using an external antenna attached to the stick?

The date in the log is provided by your system. If your Android time is correct, then the system implementation of your device is severely botched.

I am currently testing the unit inside the car. When I installed fully I will be adding an antenna to the modem/car.

Thank you for all your help and will be correctly installing in the coming week so signal should not be a problem then.

Again, Thanks alot for all your help,(both of you ;) ) it's been really appreciated. :)

Sinnedone,
I have an E397u-53. I had similar issues to you, then took the device to an open window and I got a 4G signal. Took it to my car and have great reception.

What service provider are you using? I'm on U.S. T-Mobile. Band 4 doesn't have good building penetration.

If you got it to work, can you confirm if all apps have network access? For me, system apps (gmail, maps, etc) don't have network access.
