Success

. Thanks allot Josh.
But I still have the problem with the GSM network going down when I hit the “connect” button on the widget. The funny part was that when I restarted the phone to get the network back, the language of the phone changed from English to French

.
Any thoughts on why the network goes down ?

To avoid conflicts, PPP Widget stops the RIL daemon during the connection. It is re-started upon disconnection.
Note that this tool is primarily intended to help people with no working 3G connection, mostly owners of WiFi-only devices.

dpunto and lecureuil38,
can you test the new package for the GT-P5110? It is based on the source release of the GT-P5100, but I see no reason why it should not run on similar devices.

Hmm, lecureuil38, then we might have to wait for the official JB source release from Samsung for the GT-P3110 ...

I suggest asking at a Sony user's (or developer's) forum. Or - you can do it yourself.
so why not u make a brief step-by-step tutorial on how we can do this, instead of bothering u making new drivers over and over on every update?

I am a windows user and I would definitely need these steps to try build modules onmy own!

achindra,
a good resource and probably some helping hands can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1515
Note that you would definitely need a Linux system to begin with.

hi I am using the Motorola Xoom wifi only version and have a e173 modem from huawei. I can't get the modem to work.
I have the supposed module for it but I'm not sure it works because insmod command returns an error.
However the widget does not fail on this ...because it says port not found....also in dev folder there is no ttyusb files....confused
Can anyone help please thanks

d_ralh,
do you have at least version 1.2.4 installed? The error message should be more precise from this version upward.

Can you post your USB mode-switch log?
You can read (and copy) it in the config page of PPP Widget since version 1.2.4 (button at bottom right) once you enabled the "Logging" option and re-plug your modem.
