And here is one more. I extracted the kernel from your official firmware (downloaded). Then I extracted the module versions from the kernel to a file and managed to compile the modules solo to match the values in that file. Now the "module_layout" of the new modules is identical to the modules that you provided from your device.

I hope you are ready for annother try. If this doesn't work, I'm on my wit's end and have to wait until my GT-P3110 gets its Jelly Bean update (which could be anytime soon).

This one is scary. The tablet restarted when I selected the option to activate ppp widget when the data card is connected.

Same result- restart - when I hit return after insmod usb_wwan.ko.

I don't see any error. The USB log said the drivers were loaded O.K.

If you tried "insmod" manually - this will fail because the module was already loaded by the mode switcher script.

Did you try to connect? Is there any other error?

Well, no idea what happened, but after many attempts, I restarted the tablet and now its connecting!

Hi Josh, its been a while since I used the CDMA dongle on my the GT-P3100 tablet. Last time you had to do a lot of work to get things working. However after a few months, I had moved on to a non-Samsung rom (kitkat) and the PPP widget had stopped working because of non-availability of drivers.

I have now installed PPP Widget 2 on the same tablet. I wanted to know what could be the hindrance to the tablet communicating with the dongle with PPP widget 2. This I understand does not require drivers.

If its useful, I would add here that the dongle does not have a sim card. Its model is ZTE AC2736. The tablet has a sim card slot and has calling as well. I am using it without a sim card.

What should I do to make the tablet connect to the internet with PPP Widget 2 and the broadband dongle?

I need to know what happens if you attach the modem with PPP Widget 2 being active on the screen. If you get any log output, please post it.
