usb_modeswitch -c /etc/usb_modeswitch.d/21f5:1000 also works
Code:
usb_modeswitch -c /etc/test.conf |grep "">f.txt

Why are you trying other ways to switch?

The command I suggested has worked. Your device has switched.

Forget about switching now. Load the driver:

Code:
# modprobe -v option
# echo "21f5 2008" > /sys/bus/usb-serial/drivers/option1/new_id

In puppy Warry 5.2.2
i copied rules udev and rules usbmodeswitch to respective directory
but i still did,
modprobe usbserial vendor product
then pupdial probe modem give ttyUSB0 I put password ,call no.and username and connect. It really connects and first thing is Seamonkey download Flash updates.
But pupdial shows 9800 baudrate .
and mode OPtion is better than usbserial
command modprobe option attach module but not modem
modprobe Option vendor=0x21f5 product 0x2008 will not tie ttyUsB0
dmesg shows generic modem driver but no ttyUsb0 found and pupdial probe don't find modem.
it seems i cant attach option module with 21f5:2008
and usbserial giving me baudrate 9800 but in speedtest.net i will test shortly.

To bind the "option" driver, please read again what I wrote in my last post.

I will add this modem to the next data package release.

Code:
done exactly
Code:
# modprobe -v option
# echo "21f5 2008" > /sys/bus/usb-serial/drivers/option1/new_id

dmesg - output generic modem driver
no attaching any ttyUSB0
later found after 2 months
#new_id file is now permissible
sudo chmod 777 /sys/bus/usb-serial/drivers/option1/new_id
this stanza for ubuntu

Did you unload usbserial before plugging?

Unplug.

modprobe -r usbserial

Plug / switch.

modprobe -v option

echo ...

#attaching option
sudo modprobe option
#new_id file is now permissible
sudo chmod 777 /sys/bus/usb-serial/drivers/option1/new_id
#inserting vendor ids to new_id file in respective dir
sudo echo "21f5 2008" > /sys/bus/usb-serial/drivers/option1/new_id
dmesg|tail -n 20

What i now understand is by default puppy Wary 5.2.2 binds option driver to usbserial modem driver . I
have tried plug unplug replug modprobe -r usbserial modprobe option and found option is woking in background.if i remove usbserial then message is fatal error module in use. if i remove option then i can remove usbserial..
here is dmesg from wary 5.2.2
http://pastebin.com/B3Ms5dmh
here is modinfo option
http://pastebin.com/1kNR4MQj
modinfo usbserial

parm: product:User specified USB idProduct (ushort)

reboot and now
Modem is running fine speedtesting shows equivalent in windows.
success in lupu 528 done ruless to udev.d and umodeswitch.d
success in puppy 4.3.1 but with usbserial
modprobe usbserial vendor product
modprobe option
modprobe option vendor product
echo "21f5:2008" > /sys/bus/usb-serial/drivers/option1/new_id
dmesg
wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf
here found device attached to ttyusb0
pupdial start found device. password , name , dialcode.
here is var/log/message
http://pastebin.com/ZHZ5vWf0

Doing all this in puppy 4.3.1, uname -r 2.6.30.5 user agent sea monkey 1.1.18
but speedtest.com shows half of it , this happens in windows too as i am in conjusted area with lot of utl subscribers.
In http://www.bandwidthplace.com/
download 124 kbps
upload 31 kbps
rebooted ~5 minutes after in winxp
download 133 kbps
upload 38 kbps in same site.

yesterday connected puppy 4.3.1 with upgrade 4.3.1.1
but today things are gloomy.
somehow ttyusb3 is attached which starts module cdc_acm and other 3 modules.
got to lot of modprobe -r cdc_acm and other 3 modules.
sometimes pupdial shows no carriesr detect.
needs lot of reboot to overcome .
basic learned usbserial is good for it while cdc_acm is bad. option can't be loaded as it backfire by starting cdc_acm. this is quite inconsistent.reboot lot. replug lot. found device cd rom lot.
though i hope once again modprobe -v usbserial will be successful to attached to ttyusb0.

clearly it will better to change distro to slacko 5.2
or fedora16 both i have.will try on both

After in linux, this modem in windows try to clean something in atdt inside modem or whatever runs cw+cleaning tool i don't get which process ,then cw+detect.exe will detect modem in windows. and sometimes even in windows having problems of connection speed.connects to nameserver of its own as if command and control, could because this modem is proprietary and intend to use in china telcom network.
clearly , playing in linux has done something to it.
In linux trying always ttyusb3.
so
ln -s /dev/ttyusb0 /dev/modem #created symlink
blacklist in bootmanager module cdc_acm.
still wvdialconf find ATDT ttyusb0 115kb with `!~!#$~$!@!~~@~!$ this type of letters. and modem is becoming harder to use in puppy 4.3.1.1
why?
port recognizing problems ?
why option or usbserial is not so clear cut about port ttyusb0 or ttyusb3 or other port specific problems?
why wvdial gives dsdormaint or something like that message?

Here could be ports.
Usb modem port -ttyUsb0
DM service port -ttyusb1
voice device port -ttyusb2
command control port -ttyusb3
usb mass storage -ttyusb4
this modem easily works in wary 5.2.2 and lupu 5.2.8 works with glitch in puppy 4.3.1.1

Connection speed with wireless modems can vary from day to day.

It depends on many factors. Remember that you are probably not the only user in your area.

This is certainly no indicator for the well-being of the modem.
