Re: How to get HUAWEI E3372h USB modem to work with Linux Qubes OS 4.0.3 ?

Please remove the pictures, they are not only space consuming but log lines can not be quoted from a picture.. The cdc_ether driver has bound to your dongle, has created an eth0 device which immediately got auto renamed to enp0s20f0u10 and this device should be visible under Mobile Broadband in Netw...

We need to see a verbose lsusb listing for this modem before it has switched.

sudo lsusb -v -d 05c6:1000

and paste the result here.

Re: How to get HUAWEI E3372h USB modem to work with Linux Qubes OS 4.0.3 ?

I can't see any paste from your system log. lsusb will show you the usb id of the modem and that will tell if the modem has been mode switched or not. What you should expect to see in your system log is something like this: usb 1-2: New USB device found, idVendor=12d1, idProduct=14dc usb 1-2: New US...

Re: How to use Huawei ET302s in raspberrypi

ok, so after you have selected config#2 then: sudo modprobe usb_wwan sudo modprobe usbserial sudo modprobe option sudo echo "12d1 1d50" >/sys/bus/usb-serial/drivers/option1/new_id and then check your system log for creation of one or maybe two ttyUSB devices. ttyUSB0 is likely the dial-up modem devi...

Re: How to use Huawei ET302s in raspberrypi

This is a very weird device and also very old and low-speed. The specification says TD-SCDMA which is something China Mobile invented and built 12-13 years ago but are you sure that there is still a Chinese Mobile Provider using that standard today? If there is then we should try to force one of lin...

Re: How to use Huawei ET302s in raspberrypi

I've read your PM but sorry I don't do privaste support, only here in the forum so other user can see it and maybe learn something from it. The errors in your system log for interface#3 and #4 is because they have attributes saying that they are cdc_acm interfaces but they are not, they are probably...

Re: How to use Huawei ET302s in raspberrypi

PS, I plug ET302s out and in again, there is the log , but there is still no ACM* [ 464.188720] usb-storage 1-1.3:1.0: USB Mass Storage device detected Your dongle is still in configuration#1 where there is only a storage interface, did you forget to remove your faulty config file? You can change c...

Re: How to use Huawei ET302s in raspberrypi

ttyACM devices are created by the cdc_acm driver, make sure you have it in your system and if it is included as a module then make sure the module is loaded (modprobe cdc_acm , lsmod).
Your system log (dmesg) will show the cdc_acm driver binding to the ET302

Re: How to use Huawei ET302s in raspberrypi

Scrap your own rule and use the one which is included in the usb_modeswitch config files datapackage.
ET302 is a cdc_acm device so the serial interfaces will be named ttyACM0 ttyACM1 and so on.

Re: How to get HUAWEI E3372h USB modem to work with Qubes OS 4.0.3 ?

In Linux Qubes OS the USB modem is listed as a storage device and not as a modem. Storage device as a way of telling the current mode is a bit foggy, the initial mode of a dongle usually have a virtual cdrom storage device and after mode switch there is often a TF/SD card storage device, for 12d1:1...

Re: How to get HUAWEI E3372h USB modem to work with Qubes OS 4.0.3 ?

Your google groups posts shows the dongle as 12d1:14dc which is a usb id the dongle gets after mode switching, so usb_modeswitch (or a similar utility) is already installed and has done its job. You can not switch from 12d1:14dc to another usb id. E3372h with usb id 12d1:14dc is not an old fashioned...

Re: please help with Vodafone K5160

Disable mbim globally and enable Huawei alt mode globally in /etc/usb_modeswitch.conf and you might get it to switch into a mode where there are serial interfaces. Works for many (but not all) Huawei dongles.

Re: Huawei E3531 HuaweiAltModeGlobal=1 /dev/cdc-* not created

I do want to have HuaweiAltModeGlobal as on the same OS there will be other Huawei modems running and I want those to work in mbim mode. HuaweiAltMode can not bring you to mbim mode, not for this device or any other Huawei modem you have. If there is an mbim configuration then it must be visible in...

Re: Huawei E3531 HuaweiAltModeGlobal=1 /dev/cdc-* not created

I am thinking to blacklist the mbim modules as per the post initiator opinion to have the modem working at least in PPP mode because with mbim I get: "Couldn't find associated cdc-wdm port" because no /dev/cdc-* device gets created. I do want to have HuaweiAltModeGlobal as on the same OS there will...
