Re: Nexus 7 (2012) + huawei k3715: "modem not found"

Other possibilities: - A bad OTG adapter. You could check with a different one. I use the very short type that doesn't have a cable. - Possibly misaligned micro USB port on the N7. I once dropped my N7 with the modem connected, and the port got pushed wider than normal. This caused my OTG adapter to...

Re: ConCorde Rokee 8G - PPP Widget - Nokia 6120C works

Seems to me a case of post hoc reasoning. Easy to fall victim to it. The best way to avoid it is to double and triple check your results, from multiple angles, before affirming a conclusion. Super Su free and pro are identical in core functionality. Pro has some extra options but free is perfectly c...

Re: Wifi tether app with PPP Widget on kitkat

well all I did was some good googling. the credit goes to others on the net. this guy Alberto Milone solved most of it. I suggest you go to his site and follow the instructions. don't worry about messing anything up whatever you change with regards to iptables should reset on restart. you should fir...

Re: Wifi tether app with PPP Widget on kitkat

Nice! You're welcome :)

p.s. actually now that you know it works there is a way to do it without any of these apps, quite simple really with a couple of lines in a terminal emulator if you're so inclined. Otherwise happy surfing.

Re: Wifi tether app with PPP Widget on kitkat

Ok try it again, but this time first install this app called Tethering fix and run it. Now try running your native tethering from your phone again.

if that app doesn't fix it you can also try this one or maybe this one and retry your phone's native tether each time.

Re: Wifi tether app with PPP Widget on kitkat

You might have solved this already but if not have you tried your phone's own tethering menu? Your phone should have a tethering option in Settings -> More -> Tethering & portable hotspot or, if you're phone's 4.4.2 is very different from vanilla, somewhere else. point being maybe your default t...

Re: Help!!!! Using PPPwidget along with Stickmount

using 2012 N7 here. in my case my modem has a microsd slot. I remember when I first plugged it in android asked me which app I wanted to control it and it asked me twice, I guess once for the modem part and once for the microsd part. hoping I could use them together I tried picking PPP widget for th...

Request for a feature: multiple profiles

Hi Josh, I sometimes find myself switching between different modems with different settings. Not often but it happens and when it does I have to change the settings then change them back and so forth. I was thinking maybe having profiles would make this process shorter. Something to consider for a f...

Thanks Josh for the 1.3.4 update. Everything works as before. No need for workarounds or mods. No DNS issues.

Re: DNS problems with Nexus 7 (2012) running Android 4.4

yeah same here. that's expected though since this is not a bug or error, it's a "feature" ie google intentionally changed dns handling starting from 4.3. But at least wifi networks seem to be exempt so ppp widget will hopefully be fine when Josh gets it going for 4.4 kernel. Limited connec...

Re: DNS problems with Nexus 7 (2012) running Android 4.4

* It should be noted that the issue in this thread is specific to PPP Widget 1.3.3 and any future version will probably fix network notification which should fix the dns problems and make everything here unnecessary. ---------------------------------------------- I didn't like the idea of being tied...

Re: Positive news for Nexus 7 (2012) running Android 4.4

Well, it's a step forward anyway. This trick expands the usable apps to any app that doesn't require network notification. From what I checked, this includes all browsers (so you're not stuck with Firefox), Twitter app, and Tango app. Unfortunately this still excludes some major apps like the Play S...

Re: Positive news for Nexus 7 (2012) running Android 4.4

Ok here is the positive news. While trying different apps I found one that works but luckily it was a browser namely Firefox Browser (probably the best browser for Android.) Looks like we at 4.4 can at least browse the web. Better than nothing till we get an update. If you use ppp widget with stuff ...
