Re: Ubuntu Precise PPA?

(FWIW, I'm the usb-modeswitch Debian maintainer) I've just made the most recent usb-modeswitch Debian versions available on this PPA: https://launchpad.net/~odyx/+archive/usb-modeswitch For now, there are recent versions built for Precise and Trusty. I welcome feedback on odyx@debian.org. Cheers, OdyX

Debian: Patch 04_correct_help_options.patch

Hi Josh, In the Debian BTS, Matej Zagiba reported bug #535445 about wrong long options. I thus created a patch on usb_modeswitch.c which correct the --help options (which are not in sync with what usb_modeswitch expects). You can download it there: 04_correct_help_options.patch Best regards, OdyX

Not needed anymore for Linux > 2.6.30 ?

Hi, For my ICON 7.2 GIO2101, it seems that usb-modeswitch is not needed anymore... I do have: * linux: 2.6.30 * udev: 0.141 And from the logs (/var/log/syslog), it seems that it is self-switching somehow... and I can see the three modem devices (/dev/ttyUSB{0,1,2}). Is that known, normal, intended ?...

Splitting ?

Hi, by the way, why not publishing "really soon" a binary using the "perfect detection" based on the list of devices you have ? Why not shipping a version 2.0.0~rc1 (or 1.9.90 and up (or 1.5~rc1, whatever bigger)) with this new version with the limited set of devices definitions you have and with th...

Debian: Patch 02_umconf_is_no_exec.patch

Hi Josh, While changing my packaging scripts, I decided to use your Makefile. It carries an error, which installs /etc/usb_modeswitch.conf as executable (which it is not). You can find the patch on the packaging repository : 02_umconf_is_no_exec.patch Best regards, OdyX, usb-modeswitch Debian mainta...

Debian: Patch 01_correct_broken_huawei_conf.patch

Hi Josh,

In Debian's bugtracker I received a bugreport (#530788) about a broken (uncommon) entry in usb_modeswitch.conf.

You can find the patch on the packaging repository :

Idea: attributing unique IDs for devices

Hi, I am the Debian packager of usb-modeswitch. The main problem I see for usb-modeswitch's future is the problematic confusion caused by different devices carrying the same idVendor:idProduct string. This is a problem in particular for upgrades. If a user uncomments one entry in /etc/usb_modeswitch...
