Re: USB_ModeSwitch breaks with USB devices without interface 0

Exellent!

I'll include both fixes in the release version. I wouldn't have been able to test this as in my - rather extended - modem collection there is none with such an 'extreme' setup ...

Re: USB_ModeSwitch breaks with USB devices without interface 0

I have prepared a new release of usb_modeswitch. Among some other fixes, I have changed the wrapper script to look for interfaces according to availability instead of fixed numbers. That means that the first interface may be ".2" or whatever the lowest available interface number is. If you like you ...

Re: ZTE MF110 mode switch sequence on Android

How could you find those 4 serial ports? I started off with usb-serial-for-android when I began work on PPP Widget 2. It's good for the initial learning but I ended up with implementing my own drivers. First thing to note is that "flow control" (the pseudo 'modem lines' provided by the respective i...

Re: ZTE MF110 mode switch sequence on Android

The issue is the available drivers in Android. In very early versions - like 2.x - the kernels had lots of drivers and you could post-load modules to add further drivers. Later, with 4.3 if I remember correctly, the module loading was disabled, for 'security reasons', and the modem drivers vanished ...

Re: Huawei E3372H-153 & Pop-up at boot time

The dialog is an Android issue. Android should remember your giving that permission if you check the little box saying just that. It does if it runs normally. As for the late start-up, I don't know what the problem is. It may be hardware-related, e.g. not providing enough power to the modem. Did you...

Re: Quanta 0408:ea25 switch failed

If you don't see a driver binding to the modem after the switch, then there is either the "option" driver module missing on your system or the "option" module is there but the kernel is so old that the USB ID of your modem is not yet built into it The second possibility means that the driver does no...

Re: Information USB Hub usb_modeswitch_dispatcher on 2.5.2

When USB device names contain dots, it means that a hub is involved. usb_modeswitch should handle these cases correctly in the upstream version which is also used by Debian. I don't know about the Ubuntu rewrite of the dispatcher though. Note that mine is the original and Ubuntu has rewritten it in ...

Re: New in 2.6.0: dropping the install dependency on a tcl interpreter

Sorry for being not clear enough in the README, obviously. There are still three flavours of installation as before. The difference to older versions is that the "embedded" flavours are using libjim from the system instead of the one "on-board". However, that change is unrelated to the one you are r...

There is no "going back" after the initial mode switch. You have to re-plug the device.

Re: USB driver lost

There is a misunderstanding. PPP Widget does not do USB driving on the kernel level because Google banned kernel module loading. Instead it tries to do all USB traffic and protocols the Android way, with the Android USB API or a bug-free clone of it. Bottom line: you will hardly see kernel devices i...

Re: Another e3372 newbie

There is never a hardware reset on these modems. Resetting amounts to unplugging and replugging. You can screw things up though with proprietary Huawei AT commands which can change modes permanently (stored in some flash memory). Maybe that's what you did with the DHCP server? Anyway, I think if the...

Re: Stuck on "setup modem"

That's unusual. There should be at least a sign of an attempt to talk to the modem in the PPP log. A few ideas: - Can it be an issue about insufficient power supply? - Is there any other system software that may try to use the modem? I suggest using a command shell access and trying to find out if t...
