Re: Compiling from source on Raspberry Pi 2 on latest raspbi

The problem can also be an insufficient power supply of USB devices on the Pi. There were reports giving hints that using a powered USB hub improved reliability. http://www.draisberghof.de/usb_modeswitch/bb/viewtopic.php?p=15158#p15158 Thanks. Actually initially we thought this was a / the problem ...

Re: Compiling from source on Raspberry Pi 2 on latest raspbi

or use a different distro, there are many to choose from that uses the dwc2 (USB 2.0) driver. Which are those exactly? Debian or Redhat based are most preferable. And supported by Rasberry PI 1 (for example Ubuntu is not). I would love to know as well. Even for RasperrbyPi2's. For what it is worth ...

Re: Compiling from source on Raspberry Pi 2 on latest raspbi

Thanks Josh! Buttttt... this is with usb_modeswitch 1.2.5 or 2.2.5? (Ie was that a typo or the early version of usb_modeswtich? I am guessing a typo... since this whole thread is about compiling with latest sources) So that is a fresh installed raspberian? (Or at least up to date right? Ie you have ...

Re: Compiling from source on Raspberry Pi 2 on latest raspbi

If the later versions of usb_modeswitch don't work with the latest raspberian that at least explains it. It would be nice to document this somewhere though since a lot of people are trying to use Pi's for IOT type of things so they need GPS and 3G. Going from Joshs comment's here: http://www.draisbe...

Re: Compiling from source on Raspberry Pi 2 on latest raspbi

Yes the controller is dwc_otg from dmesg | grep usb The full output is below, butttt this is working on the exact same set up with usb_modeswtich 1.2.3+repack that is shipped with latest raspberrian. Is there any way to get those changes (the repack bits) or something and include them in the latest ...

Re: Compiling from source on Raspberry Pi 2 on latest raspbi

Well getting back to this I had some time this weekend... I tried a couple of different things. One big thing was upgrading the raspberry pi's firmware from 3.18.16 (last stable on the 3 branch) to 4.0.8. This allowed me to use a USB hub under the included version of usb_modeswitch 1.2.3+repack. So ...

Re: Compiling from source on Raspberry Pi 2 on latest raspbi

I don't know. What I'm saying is that I never cared about the version I was working with because there were no problems - up to that 'advanced' error report issue that bit you (and me). Ahhh... I guess I have just been kind of unlucky then. I can try a clean card wipe, reinstall raspberrian & re-pr...

Re: Compiling from source on Raspberry Pi 2 on latest raspbi

So which version of the library should we be using then? libusb-1.0-0-dev on the pi or which tag in the git version you just linked to? (There are 29 different tags in the the linked git repo between v1.0.9 and v1.0.19-rc2) I guess you are saying there are all the same re mode-switch and anyone is a...

Re: Compiling from source on Raspberry Pi 2 on latest raspbi

In the main instructions on the front page it says: Don't forget libusb-1.x( http://www.libusb.org/ ) if it's not on your system. In most distributions there is most likely a package named "libusb1-dev" or "libusb1-devel" (or similar). Older versions were based on libusb-0.1.12 but since version 2.0...

Re: Huawei E1750

Further to this on modeswitch 1.2.3+repack the only difference in log file /var/log/usb_modeswitch_ttyUSB0 when connected to the hub vs connected directly to the pi appears to be: (1) the time of the log (obviously) (2) direct to pi the device is 1-1.4, and on the hub the device is 1-1.4.1 See the a...

Re: Huawei E1750

Note: Just to note, the sources I am using are 2.2.3a whereas above you said you are on 2.2.2 (where a is the tweak to include the fix you pointed out in http://www.draisberghof.de/usb_modeswitch/bb/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2337) BTW is there some kind of repo for this somewhere so we can try different v...

Re: Huawei E1750

I managed to get the log file to display it's information and it now states: [pi@pi008:/var/log] $ more usb_modeswitch_1-1.4\:1.0 USB_ModeSwitch log from Fri Jul 10 02:31:47 NZST 2015 Use global config file: /etc/usb_modeswitch.conf Raw args from udev: 1-1.4/1-1.4:1.0 Use top device dir /sys/bus/usb...

Re: EnableLogging=1 is ignored / not working?

For some weird reason this is now working for me. I don't know what happened. I did disable the automatic switching in the /etc/usb_modeswitch.conf and then re-enabled switching and now I am getting log files again. Weird. Consider this closed I guess...
