Re: Vodacom 3G dongle - Usbsnoop

Hi Bjørn, Your suggestion does not seem to switch the device. However, I just recently tried the following: usb_modeswitch -v 2020 -p 0002 -V 2020 -P 2000 -M "555342430820298900000000000003f0010100000000000000000000000000" I got the messagecontent from near the end of the usbsnoop log fie (I though...

Re: Vodafone K3772 and Ubuntu 12.04

Also, I don't understand how I have 3.1 if it was never released under debian, I guess I installed 3.0 originally and ugraded or dist-upgraded to 3.1 at some stage, I always used aptitude and I never changed the repos. There was a 3.1 kernel package in sid (and possibly also testing) at some point....

Re: Vodafone K3772 and Ubuntu 12.04

Hi guys, thanks for the responses. To be honest though; I am completely lost. I guess the suggestion is to upgrade to a newer kernel. I will try that later today or tonight to see what happens, then report back. I may as well explain that I use the 3.1 kernel because it is the only kernel with whic...

Re: ZTE MF-212 on an Android (ARM) tablet

Hmmm.... I'm missing usb/ under both /proc/bus and /sys/kernel/debug Then I'm probably wrong and your system doesn't mount debugfs automatically. Do you have rights to do it (i.e. root)? Then you can do mount -t debugfs none /sys/kernel/debug root@android:/ # ls -l /sys/bus/usb-serial/devices lrwxr...

Re: Vodafone K3772 and Ubuntu 12.04

I don't understand why the option driver binds to if#1. It should not. The option driver for kernel 3.1.0 did not include 12d1:14cf so it is either due to using option+new_id (binds to all interfaces except storage) or a wrongly modified and recompiled option driver. No version of the option driver...

Re: Vodafone K3772 and Ubuntu 12.04

I don't think these are serial interfaces, so the "option" driver does not help here. usb_modeswitch only binds it if there is no other driver stepping forward. If#0 serial ppp modem If#1 cdc_ncm direct ethernet If#2 serial diag If#3 serial pcui (at cmd) This is Huawei's new assignment of interface...

cat /proc/bus/usb/devices
Or

Code: Select all

cat /d/usb/devices
as Android seems to always mount the debugfs and provide a symlink from /d to /sys/kernel/debug

Either buy a modem which is older than your kernel, or install a kernel which is newer than your modem.

Sorry, we didn't have time machines back when that kernel was released.

Re: Huawei E3231 - new model

Here is the driver for the e3231 dongle. Includes the linux driver as well. Hope you can find out something. http://href.hu/x/kh6j Looks like that just set a static "hwcdrom" name for the embedded CD and end up running a "mbbservice" binary. Without source we cannot know exactly what it does, but b...

No, it's not. Unless backported, that is.

The qmi_wwan driver first appeared in v3.4. It was mostly developed before the v3.2 release, but was still finished too late to make the v3.3 merge window.

Re: Novatel Expedite E371(Dell Wireless 5084)

I'll submit a patch to change this module from cdc_ether to qmi_wwan, just like the E362. Googling for the Novatel E371 vid:pid, I found that you also have a Fedora bug open for this issue: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?format=multiple&id=955426 and Dan W already is onto it. So I think I...

The vendor ID (0x413c) makes it a Dell card. But it can't tell where it's been before you bought it :)
