Re: Quanta 0408:ea25 switch failed

The error reported by libusb is probably not a real error, which usb id does lsusb show for the device after "switching failure"?

Re: Realtek RTL8821CU 0bda:1a2b

I think that after modeswitching, the system doesn't detect any change, I don't know... Your system log, after the dongle being switched to 0bdb:c811, should show the 8821cu driver binding to the dongle and creating a new net device. lsmod should also show a usage count for 8821cu. When driver bind...

Re: Realtek RTL8821CU 0bda:1a2b

lsmod shows loaded modules, if it doesn't show after modprobe or insmod then the module is not present in the module directory.

I can't find driver support for 8821cu in linux and google says that you have to compile the driver yourself using source that is available from Realtek.

Re: Realtek RTL8821CU 0bda:1a2b

What should I do? Thanks in advance. The support for 0bda:1a2b was included in a late Nov 2019 release of usb_modeswitch, the pppwidget project is currently in deep sleep so there is no updated pppwidget that you can install. Android 6.1.1, if it includes usb_modeswitch at all then it is likely an ...

Vodafone (Huawei) MiFi R218h

Initial id 12d1:1f0a switches to 12d1:1c51 when using switch method HuaweiNewMode.

12d1:1c51 exposes a cdc_ether interface with an IP address within the MiFi's NATed LAN subnet.

Re: Huawei E3531s-2 E3372 annoyances

You can not switch back a device after it has been switched, it stays in the mode it is in until it loses power. The file system error is not related to usb_modeswitch, it can't be for many reasons and one of them is that usb_modeswitch is not invoked by udev for 12d1:14dc which is the id your dongl...

Re: Huawei E3531s-2 E3372 annoyances

The mode switch message in MS Windows is different from the one in linux, both of them makes the modem morph into 12d1:14dc but for MS Windows the modem interfaces are for NDIS (Microsofts native and proprietary version of ethernet) while for linux they are for common ethernet. The modem will carry ...

I am using a USB pcie adapter board with a 3.6v voltage requirement, and I am waiting for the arrival of USB hub power.
Then lets wait for the arrival of the powered USB hub before we continue troubleshooting.

No it didn't switch, 12d1:1f1c is the initial id before the dongle is switched.
You can now use that id on the cmdline and the alt-mode switch and see what you get after it switched.

Re: K4203 switch to modem

12d1:1590 is an id the dongle get after switching, you can not switch further on that usb id.
If you want to switch from the cmdline then disable automatic switching by usb_modeswitch or whatever other program that has switched it into 12d1:1590.

Re: K4203 switch to modem

I don't think there is a modem mode in K4203 but you can try enabling HuaweiAltModeGlobal in /etc/usb_modeswitch.conf and see what that switches the dongle into.

Please remove the pictures, they are not only space consuming but log lines can not be quoted from a picture.. We need to see a verbose lsusb listing for this modem before it has switched.

sudo lsusb -v -d 05c6:1000

and paste the result here.

Re: How to get HUAWEI E3372h USB modem to work with Linux Qubes OS 4.0.3 ?

I can't see any paste from your system log. lsusb will show you the usb id of the modem and that will tell if the modem has been mode switched or not. What you should expect to see in your system log is something like this: usb 1-2: New USB device found, idVendor=12d1, idProduct=14dc usb 1-2: New US...
