Re: E5786/R226 Speed Issues

The linux switch message for all modern Huawei devices comes from Huaweis technichans who has requested usb_modeswitch to use that.
There are other users of R226 and E5786 who has never experienced low upload speed so I see no reason to change the switch message.

Sure?, Vodafone R226 isn't a E5786 internally. Their are some differences. The thread complains only for R226, not for 5786.

Same hardware, different firmware.

The poster who opened this thread and set the subject may disagree with you..

The old R226 firmware exposed a cdc_ether interface, see:
http://www.draisberghof.de/usb_modeswit ... f=3&t=2242

while later firmware exposes a rndis interface instead and that is likely your problem, the linux rndis_host driver is neither complete nor of high quality.
Working around the problem by using a Win switch message will only create problem when Huawei re-uses the id for another product.
(The SCSI Inquiry message in the patch you submitted to asuswrt is btw not a message that has anything to do with mode switching, I don't understand why you have it there.)
