Huawei e3372 and raspberry pi serial port

Post by qponey » Tue Oct 25, 2016 11:50 am

Hi,

I have a HUAWEI E3372 LTE USB Stick that i'd like to use to send SMS trough smstools.

It switches correctly to 12d1:14dc modem mode but doesn't provide any serial interface in /dev.

Can you help me?

Sorry, I must have missed that post - thus the very late reply.

The E3372 does only have an Ethernet port and a storage device when mode-switched with the "HuaweiNew" method (the default ).
If you feed it the "fallback" bulk message described below, you get annother Ethernet port (type 'NCM') and several serial ports in addition. Maybe they can be used for SMS transmission.

Create a file named "12d1:1f01" in the folder "/etc/usb_modeswitch.d". Put this into the file and replug the stick:

Code: Select all

# Huawei E3372 (fallback mode)
TargetVendor=  0x12d1
TargetProduct= 0x155f
MessageContent="55534243123456780000000000000011063000000100010000000000000000"

Ah .. thank you !
I am a newbie, and did not realize switching was already done to the 12d1:14dc pair reported by my E3372 ..
This solved my current issue with not getting in contact with my modem

:D
