Novatel Wireless USB730L usb_modeswitch error no default vendor / product Id given Abort

Post by Mike K. » 25 Nov 2021, 02:54

Hi guys I have been searching google, ubuntu forums etc and I have tried to edit the usb_modeswitch.conf to no avail. My issue is that I am running Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS and trying to add a USB730L as a networking device. I have followed this guide here https://docplayer.net/56085050-Usb730l- ... guide.html as well as the Verizon guide and I cannot seem to get this device out of End User mode via modeswitch. I am able to get it working by manually requesting dhcp via the dhclient eth1 command but I was hoping to have this automatically be done when booting the device.

Can you guys point me in the right direction on how to get this done ?

What is your usb_modeswitch version?
What is the current USB Id (vid:pid) for the modem? Show me the output from lsusb -vd vid:pid
