HUAWEI E3131 - critical medium error, dev sr0

Post by clementine » 11 Feb 2016, 00:06

I successfully setup my 3G dongle to work on a raspberry pi using USB_modeSwitch a few weeks ago (just doing sudo apt-get install usb_modeswitch).

I'm now trying to install it on another config (same OS, but slightly different config) but this time I can't get it to work, and I get the following error:
blk_update_request: critical medium error, dev sr0, sector 262136
Buffer I/O error on dev sr0, logical block 32767, async page read
I have installed the newest version of modeswitch, tried to play with it, but nothing seems to work.
I just don't understand what is going on.

Help would be really appreciated.

Your .png screenshots of plaintext is not wanted here, not only do they consume more server space, they can also not be googled and they make no sense to braille readers which the visually impaired uses. Pls resubmit in text form.

That error may happen during a successful mode switch (which resembles a raw device unplug). So it is not an indication of a serious problem.

If things don't work, the first thing to do is to enable the logging of usb_modeswitch and have a look at the logs after the next modem insertion.
