Problem autorun PPP widget with Huawei E3372s on Joying PX5

Post by Zalemor » 22 Aug 2018, 10:01

Hi.
English I know very poorly, so the text of the post I will translate a translator from Russian.
Multimedia: Joying PX5 octa core, Android 8, 4Gb RAM, 32Gb ROM.
Modem: Huawei E3372s unlocked on all operators. Firmware HiLink. Work perfectly. is determined by without problems.
PPP widget use for a long time. Default setting. Root access is.
The problem is:
When you connect a modem, the first time it is determined well. Click "connect" and get access to the Internet without problems. But if you click the "disable" button, then when you click the "connect" button again, the PPP widget hangs with the inscription "network settings". If you click "disable", the PPP widget hangs with the message "disable" and nothing happens.
To re-gain access, you must physically remove and re-insert the modem into the USB connector.
I apply logs:

I think your E3372 is in a wrong mode.

Did you disable the CD-ROM mode?

PPP Widget can bring all modems to the correct mode. You don't have to change the mode permanently.

Huawei modems have different modes that can be set, but only if the CD-ROM mode was not disabled.

The HiLink mode is not the best mode. There is annother mode that is called "NCM". It is slightly faster, and you don't have to use the web browser to make the connection.

Unfortunately, I cannot test the very same setup. My E3372 does not have the HiLink firmware.

The exact model name is "E3372s - 153".

Thanks for the reply.
Flashed the modem in Stik "NCM", installed Dashboard_huwei-Modem-3.5. PPP widget is working. The Internet is. Now it is turned on and off manually.
There is a small problem: if you check the box to automatically start when you connect the modem and the loss of communication. Restart the multimedia, the PPP widget hangs with the inscription "modem is not found" until you physically remove and insert it again.
if you press the PPP button then the widget does not react.
The logs will show later.

I have some questions:

You say the connection is lost at some point. Does the modem show that it has ended the connection?
In that case, the modem LED should blink.

(If the LED does not blink, it means that the modem is still holding the connection. It is also possible that PPP Widget has 'forgotten' about the connection.)

You say you "restart the multimedia" (that is the translation result).
Does that mean that you reboot the Joying PX5 device?

Have you tried to touch the PPP Widget symbol when the connection is lost?

Joying PX5 is a car dashboard head unit which has native 4G support in its RIL so pppwidget will collide with it.

Answer:
1. The modem led flashes blue slowly.
2. Yes, Joying PX5 and multimedia are the same thing. Completely restart the media Joying PX5 (turn off the power and turn on again).
3. Yes, when the connection is lost after rebooting, I tried to touch the PPP Widget, but it does not respond.

Tested PPP widget during the day.
So we have:
If Joying PX5 falls asleep and wakes up PPP widget works fine and the Internet is constantly!
If the Joying PX5 reboot then the PPP widget hangs with the message "modem search", I try to touch the PPP widget but it does not respond. To connect again, you have to physically remove the modem from the USB connector.
LOM wrote:Joying PX5 - это головной блок приборной панели автомобиля, который имеет встроенную поддержку 4G в своем RIL, поэтому pppwidget столкнется с ним.
Yes, Joying the PX5 has a built-in 4G, but this feature is disabled and does not conflict with PPP widget.

Hi Zalemor

I have a Joying unit too.
I have a Huawei E3372h on its way for it. I should have bought an 's'
I need to flash the modem to Stik "NCM" - as you did

Can you send link to instructions or post instructions?

Thank you

I once flashed my E3372 to HiLink mode and then back again to NCM mode ("s").

I basically used the procedures described here and elsewhere:
https://www.0xf8.org/2017/01/flashing-a ... tick-mode/

Hi again

Now have a 3372h-607

After quite a bit of trouble I've now flashed to E3372h-607 21.200.07.00.00
(via https://www.lteforum.at/mobilfunk/firmw ... -mod.2691/ )
as per instructions at http://blog.asiantuntijakaveri.fi/2015/ ... -from.html with a tweak via an AT command: AT^SFM=1 as noted in the comments
Have a Win 7 and Win 10 machine. Didn't get anywhere with https://www.0xf8.org/2017/01/flashing-a ... tick-mode/
Steady Blue, then green lights before attempting to connect.

As you can see PPP starts but doesn't really finish.
Stuck at "building network".
Have tried auto and different manual setting of ports without results.

Thoughts?

I have tried many things but never managed to connect in PPP mode with the E3372.

Did you not find the "s" firmware?

Did you try the "alternative Huawei mode" (configuration)?

I'm assuming the "E3372h-607 21.200.07.00.00" as listed in "NON HI- Link" from https://www.lteforum.at/mobilfunk/firmw ... -mod.2691/ with a firmware version number starting with 21 as outlined at https://www.0xf8.org/2017/01/flashing-a ... tick-mode/ is in face an 'S' build...
?

Yes - I also tried the "alternative Huawei mode".
Less success.
EDIT - Just tried again - And Bingo - It worked
