Huawei E3372h-153 not connecting to PX5 car head unit

Post by kingmustard » 28 Aug 2018, 18:25

When I connect the modem, the screen briefly displays:

"Developer warning for package "de.draisberghof.pppwidget3"
Failed to post notification on channel "null"
See log for more details
"

The widget shows, "Dialing out" then shows, "No modem response".

There is full signal.

SIM card provider: Plusnet Mobile (UK)

I have entered the following for the SIM profile:

Username: eesecure
Password: secure
Dialing string: *99***1#
PIN code: None
HTTP proxy: None

I am using the app following settings:

Include Bluetooth devices: Disabled
Indicate signal and speed: Enabled
Use alternate mode for Huawei modems: Enabled
Open browser with model page if applicable: Enabled
Auto-start connection: Enabled
Automatic reconnection: Enabled
Notify system about network access: Enabled
Skip SIM query: Disabled
Disable USB device power save: Disabled

Any ideas?

Have you also entered "everywhere" as APN?

Where do I enter that? (please see attached screenshots)

This part of the log shows that you have entered the APN correctly in the SIM profile. You have just left it out in your description. So no problem there.

The issue is rather here:

Code: Select all

>
AT_WAIT_IRQ
Timeout while waiting for modem reply
That means that there is no connect confirmation after issuing the command above (NDISDUP) which should do the "dialling".

Have you tried to use the modem and SIM in a PC or laptop? Does the SIM work in a phone?
The question is if it is properly activated.

I can confirm it works perfectly in my Galaxy S8+.

The dongle is showing:

Hardware version: CL2E3372HM
Software version: 22.315.01.00.1080
Web UI version: 17.100.13.02.1080

It's unable to check for updates ("Check for updates failed. Retry?")

In November 2016, Plusnet acquired MVNO LIFE Mobile as part of BT's acquisition of EE. LIFE Mobile was subsequently re-branded as Plusnet Mobile.

On my phone, it shows Plusnet. On the dongle homepage, it shows, "EE (Roaming)".

Roaming is enabled on the dongle and I've confirmed it's enabled on the account.

I'm honestly not sure what the problem is.

There is one more thing to try - DISABLE the option "Use alternate mode for Huawei modems".

The modem should be prepared just fine without the option.

Hi kingmustard

You are using firmware - 22.315.01.00.1080

I have just been through this at the bottom of http://www.draisberghof.de/usb_modeswit ... 919#p18919

You NEED a firmware starting with 21
My guess is it will be "E3372h-153 21.180.01.00.00 general" from https://www.lteforum.at/mobilfunk/firmw ... -mod.2691/

:-)

I don't think I'm able to downgrade the firmware :(

See full instructions at http://blog.asiantuntijakaveri.fi/2015/ ... -from.html with a tweak via an AT command: AT^SFM=1 as noted in the comments

You will need a key / password. This can be obtained via the inks "Online calculator 1" or "Online calculator 2"

Check the network settings on your car head unit to ensure that it is configured to use the Huawei E3372h-153 modem for internet connectivity. This may involve selecting the correct network mode (3G/4G), APN settings, I want watermelon and other relevant configurations.
