That's exactly what I was talking about before. I can't advise people to flash custom kernels on devices that I am not able to test myself.

Besides, statements like this: "I don’t really remember everything I changed" are not likely to increase my confidence in the custom kernel.

For anything related to custom kernels, please contact their creators. Tell them you need these modules/drivers:

cdc-acm.ko
option.ko
usb_wwan.ko (built automatically with "option.ko")
ppp_async.ko

You can refer the kernel creators to me for further information. However, I am not going to take any responsibilities if people decide to replace their stock kernel. This will be a matter between them and the kernel creators.

And what about CM10.2 nightly? I have one installed and I suppose that module loading is enabled. It is possible to run PPP widget on CM?
Kernel version: 3.4.39-gae74438.

I'm not sure about this. I remember reading somewhere that CM intends to follow Google and disable module loading.

They could add the drivers to the kernel though !!

That's a good idea. I need to make a request for this.

Hi,

I just updated to 4.3 (Build - JWR66Y , Kernel- 3.4.39-g446c9cf) from 4.2.2 on my Nexus 10.

Got it rooted.

When 3G dongle is plugged PPPWidget says "No driver found" :x

Any solution guys....

I know that google has stopped module updating ...... any other way around this without going for a custom kernel ?

Thanks

None - except going back to a previous firmware.

If the kernel has module loading disabled, there is no app in the world which will load modules into that kernel.

Try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr ... ?t=2318891
Kernel for 4.3 with 3G drivers. I'm going to check this.

Edit:
It seams like there are some drivers for 3G modem, but my Huawei e173 cannot connect.

For me using Huawei E169, both of these kernels work.

At the bottom under No loadable modules?, he has recompiled the 4.3 kernel with support for module loading. It would be very easy for someone to use Wugs Nexus Root Toolkit to flash the kernel he has posted.

I grabbed the boot.img and using fastboot loaded it onto my nexus 10.

installed ppp widget and plugged in my qualcomm 3g dongle via the usb OTG cable.

typed my APN and connected without any hassles. could surf and check the google store.

I am happy to say that ppp widget is working awesomely with the 4.3 kernel from tan-ce.
