Re: Huawei E3372 12d1:15cd
Thanks for the report, the id will be included in next published usb_modeswitch data package.
Can you post the output from lsusb -v -d 12d1:15cd, I have a feeling that this may be a device with more than one personality (mbim).

Re: Huawei E3372 12d1:15cd
This device is giving me a bit of a hard time, because manually setup under Linux Mint I was able to get it to work. But it still does not work under my desired setup (attached to my Asus router with Tomato Shibby firmware) as it should.
Re: Huawei E3372 12d1:15cd
This is a cdc_mbim device so it will work more or less automatically in Linux desktop distrosmxr wrote:This device is giving me a bit of a hard time, because manually setup under Linux Mint I was able to get it to work. since a year back, it needs the cdc_mbim driver together with a mbim communication library and I don't think Tomato have implemented those.
cdc_mbim is win8 or higher mode but the dongle can also be mode switched into an "old windows" compatibility mode and that is what you have done with usb_modeswitch.
Show me the output of lsusb -v -d 12d1:1506 and I can tell you what kind of interfaces your device has in switched mode and which drivers you will need in Tomato.
What suffix to E3372 does your dongle have on its label?

Re: Huawei E3372 12d1:15cd
I guess that Tomato linux kernel is too old for having the modem included in its drivers, you need to be on kernel 3.5 or higher for using the dongle in ppp dialup mode, you need to be on kernel 3.14 or higher if you want to use the dongle as a direct ethernet adapter (using the huawei_cdc_ncm driver).
Re: Huawei E3372 12d1:15cd
How can I switch a E3372 (not the Hilink version) into MBIM mode? USB-Modeswitch keeps switching it into NCM mode on Kernel 4.0-rc7
Re: Huawei E3372 12d1:15cd
usb_modeswitch will switch it into non-mbim mode if there is no mbim driver present in the system.fsp wrote:How can I switch a E3372 (not the Hilink version) into MBIM mode? USB-Modeswitch keeps switching it into NCM mode on Kernel 4.0-rc7
Re: Huawei E3372 12d1:15cd
Thats the problem. I have a cdc_mbim driver on my system, yet it still switches to NCM.
Re: Huawei E3372 12d1:15cd
And your E3372 has a firmware with mbim support, it has the usb id 12d1:15cd before switching?fsp wrote:Thats the problem. I have a cdc_mbim driver on my system, yet it still switches to NCM.
Re: Huawei E3372 12d1:15cd
No, I think not, it's 12d1:14fe
How can I see what the firmware supports?

Re: Huawei E3372 12d1:15cd
The interface attributes (Class, SubClass, Protocol) tells what protocol the interface speaks.
12d1:14fe is not an mbim device like 12d1:15cd which is what this thread is about.

Re: Huawei E3372 12d1:15cd
But this must be firmware dependent or is this different from device to device? I have the E3372s-153
